The military court sentenced the perpetrator to 7 years in prison in the second trial for the perpetrator who was handed over to trial on charges of sexually harassing the late Air Force Sgt. Lee Ye-ram.
The sentence was reduced by two years from the first trial, saying, ‘The death of the deceased cannot be attributed only to the perpetrator.’
The bereaved family protested and screamed, saying it was “a judgment for the perpetrators.”

“Why did the last high court have made such a result like this?”
The second trial of Sergeant Jang-mo, who is accused of sexually harassing the late Sergeant Lee, was sentenced to 7 years in prison, two years less than in the first trial.
The court said, “Although the victim reported the crime, he did not receive the protection he deserved, such as being forced to cover up and come to an agreement, and the psychological pain continued,” the court said. The centrifugal was broken.
The reason is that there is a structural concealment/reduction problem, not just the individual defendant.
Sending a text message suggesting suicide to Sergeant Major Jang following sexually harassing him was also not recognized as a ‘threat of retaliation’.
The court acquitted him as in the first trial, saying, “Sending an apology letter, including hints of suicide, cannot be viewed as a concrete threat to harm.”

“How can the responsibility be divided? If it had not been for the actions of the accused (Sergeant Major Jang), would the deceased have actually died?”
The Military Human Rights Center, which has supported the bereaved family, also criticized the ruling, saying, “Now, the special prosecutor must find all those involved in the cover-up and reduction of the structural case and bring them to justice.”
The military prosecution said it would appeal immediately, and the final decision is expected to be made by the Supreme Court.
