Air Caraïbes Strike: Latest Updates and Impact on Flights – August 20 Deadline

2023-08-14 14:38:49

The pressure is not falling on Air Caraïbes. The strike call has been extended until Sunday 20 August. The lines serving the West Indies and Guyana are not (yet) affected by the hostesses, stewards and ground staff.

The call for a strike by Air Caraïbes employees has been extended until Sunday August 20. The next few days might be complicated for travelers. The majority union SNPNC-FO said in a press release that it had “to date received no satisfactory response to ses claims concerning working conditions and remuneration“. It therefore extends until August 20 the call to stop work, initiated on Friday August 11 by the hostesses, stewards and ground staff.

The majority SNPNC-FO had not accepted the management’s proposals following the mandatory annual negotiations, unlike the other union, the CGT Martinique.. “The only proposal from management has been a schedule of meetings with no promise of commitment from them.”

The SNPNC-FO, representative of cabin crew (PNC), denounces the “managerial practices” managers of the company belonging to the Dubreuil group as well as the inequalities “in the treatment of the different categories of personnel and this for the benefit of the most well-off categories”, according to a press release.

The management of the company has confirmed the continuation of the strike, but did not specify whether flights would be affected.
Air Caraïbes operates a fleet of six long-haul A350s and three A330s and flies from Paris to Guadeloupe, Martinique, Guyana, Haiti, the Dominican Republic, The Bahamas (San Salvador) and Mexico. The regional lines of the Amazon-Caribbean basin, served by three ATR-72s of the company are not (at this time) concerned by the strike movement.
