Air Caraïbes Strike Extension: Impact on Flight Schedule and Management’s Response

2023-08-19 12:50:39

The strike call for Air Caraïbes hostesses and stewards, as well as ground staff, has been extended until next Friday, a union said on Saturday. But this should not affect the flight schedule, assures management

The majority union SNPNC-FO said in a statement to extend ” once more the call to stop work started on August 11, 2023, until August 25, 2023″having no “received no satisfactory response to date” of the management on its claims concerning working conditions and remuneration. The movement had already been previously extended until Sunday, August 20.

“Air Caraïbes confirms that its flight program will be maintained thanks to reinforcement charters and non-striking employees”However, a spokeswoman for the airline told AFP. Chartering consists of renting an aircraft with its crew.

“The air hostesses, stewards and ground staff, already tired and exasperated by their conditions, are desperate to see that the management of Air Caraïbes prefers to spend the fruits of their efforts on charters from other companies in order to limit the effects of the strike rather than invest in their employees”commented the union.

Air Caraïbes operates a fleet of six long-haul A350s and three A330s and flies from Paris to Guadeloupe, Martinique, Guyana, Haiti, the Dominican Republic, The Bahamas (San Salvador) and Mexico.

The Caribbean regional lines served by three ATR-72s from the company are not affected by the strike action.
