The 33-year-old actor said he learned, less than two minutes before boarding, that there was no more room for him in first class because of an overbooking problem.
An Air Canada employee would have simply torn up her ticket in front of her eyes, simply indicating that the flight was full.
Kicking me out of first class to back of plane is what it is but doing it at the gate. Literally tearing my ticket up. No explanation other than “full flight”. Said if I wanted to sort it I should go to customer service. I asked where that was. “Toronto.” I’m in Orlando ????

Matthew Lewis was then told that if he wanted further explanation or a refund, he should contact the airline’s customer service department. However, the location of this one is in Toronto, while the actor was for his part at the airport in Orlando, Florida.
Honestly never experienced anything like it. I’ve been bumped before. Comes with the territory. But at the gate, less than two minutes to boarding and without explanation or apology? Never. They even said if I wanna complain or get a refund I have to reach out to them! ????????????????

The comedian claims to have received no emails or offers to book another flight.
“She literally tore up my first class ticket outside the gate, gave me an economy class ticket and left. She didn’t say a word. I had to call her back to ask her: “why?”, explains the interpreter of Neville.
No email. No offer to rebook. Literally tore my first class ticket up in front of me at the gate, gave me economy ticket and walked away. Not a single word. I had to call her back to ask umm why? Lol. Privileged problems, sure. But still wild ????????♂️

Mr. Lewis also replied to a user who mentioned that Air Canada’s service had deteriorated since the pandemic, that he did not see how the situation might be worse. He mentioned in passing that his return flight to the UK was with WestJet.
Thankfully flying home with them. Besides a hull loss, I can’t see how it’d be much worse tbh.

Whoever camped Neville Longbottom also lamented the scourge of overbooking.
“How as a society have we allowed overbooking to become something normal that we accept? It’s insane, ”claims Matthew Lewis.
How we as a society allowed overbooking flights to become a normal thing we all accept is INSANE. Amongst so many insane things.

The actor nevertheless made it clear that his acerbic comments were not aimed at Canada, a country he adores, he assures.
Are you kidding me? Like my favourite country to visit. Loooove ????????
