A “medical emergency” on board an Air Canada Rome-Toronto flight forced the crew to turn around and land back in Rome on Saturday.

Canadian carrier flight AC891 which was over Barcelona, ​​Spain, never made it to Canada due to an “onboard medical emergency”.

Contacted by TVA Nouvelles, Air Canada did not wish to reveal details regarding the passenger’s state of health.

“There was a medical emergency on board which required our flight today from Rome to Toronto to return to Rome following takeoff,” it was confirmed.

A passenger on board the flight joined by TVA Nouvelles explains how the operation went on her return to Italy.

“They then asked the passengers to get out and wait for instructions inside the airport,” says Brigitte Dubois.

Although it claims that the passenger would have died in the middle of the flight, Air Canada does not confirm the information.

“We have no further details on the client’s condition,” read an emailed statement.

“The flight had to be canceled due to legal duty day limits for our crew. The passengers have been placed in hotels and their journey is scheduled for tomorrow.”

Another Air Canada customer claimed via her Facebook account that the man died alongside his wife.
