The good news is that Air Antilles Express will continue to serve Martinique, Guadeloupe and Saint-Martin and the majority of staff, 120 out of 218, will keep their jobs.

The buyer, CIPIM, made up of the Edeis group, manager of the airports and the community of Saint-Martin, will maintain operations at a reduced size. Rotations with Saint Lucia, Barbados, Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico are canceled for now.

On the Air Guyane website, users can read the following message:

“Flights will no longer be operated beyond September 29, 2023.”

This is confirmation that the company Air Guyane, which serves 5 stopovers on Guyanese territory, will be liquidated.

Guyane Fly’s offer for the Guyanese scope, with 78 employees, was not accepted by the commercial court. The prosecution questioned the ability of Guyane Fly to find an insurer but the offer obtained the support of the Territorial Collectivity of Guyana and a favorable opinion from the CSE Cairo and the DGAC, General Directorate of Civil Aviation .

CAFOM’s offer for the overall takeover of Air Antilles Express and Air Guyane was withdrawn when the Territorial Collectivity of Guyana threatened to denounce the Air Public Service Delegation (DSP) and withdraw aid to Air Guyane.

The inter-union believes that the Territorial Collectivity of Guyana waited too long to intervene, but there were solutions to satisfy the court’s requirements regarding insurance.
