AIR 82 Program Kicks Off with Successful Student Meeting at Pierre-Bayrou College

AIR 82: Where Ambition Meets Entertainment!

Ah, the joys of back-to-school season! Little ones marching into class, the smell of fresh textbooks, and the occasional déjeuner being flung across the cafeteria like a poorly aimed cannonball. But fear not, dear readers—there’s more to school than dodging mashed potatoes! Enter the AIR 82 program. It’s like the Avengers of educational support! Well, if the Avengers also taught you how to tie your shoelaces and, perhaps, how to avoid a permanent case of backpack-induced hunchback.

What’s AIR 82 All About?

The AIR 82 initiative—standing for Ambition, Information, Success—is not just your run-of-the-mill tutoring scheme. Oh no, this is a full-on guidance extravaganza designed to propel students from middle school to higher education, one climbing wall and poorly executed improv workshop at a time. Now, before you roll your eyes and think, “Not another program with a fancy acronym,” let me assure you, these kids are building their future—literally and figuratively!

The program pairs a first-year student from Claude-Nougaro de Caussade high school with a fourth-year student from either Jean-Honoré Fragonard or Pierre-Bayrou college, making for an interesting mix of age, wisdom, and teenage angst. It’s like a buddy cop movie without the cop cars, which is an improvement considering the state of teenage driving skills.

Climbing the Heights of Success!

On this remarkable day—let’s call it “Meet Your Mentor Day”—the students kicked things off with a spot of climbing. Because, really, what better way to form bonds than dangling several feet off the ground while sweating profusely? Led by Marc Villaroya, our brave sport instructor, these young adventurers discovered that trust is key—much like the trust I have in my morning coffee not to spill all over my crisp white shirt.

What followed was a theatre workshop led by Sonia Richasse and Christelle Lafarge—perfect for breaking the ice, boosting confidence, and, let’s be honest, putting an end to the awkward silence that usually follows when two teenagers are left in a room together.

A Touch of Trivia Never Hurt!

The pièce de résistance came in the afternoon with a delightful session of Trivial Pursuit hosted by Marion Brioudes from the Montauban Chamber of Commerce and Industry. “What did you want to be when you grew up?” you may ask. “A professional potato peeler?” Nope! This was all about exploring a kaleidoscope of professions—let’s hope no one aspired to be a professional selfie-taker! (I mean, there’s only so much social media validation one can take).

The Verdict? Success!

All in all, this inaugural meetup was a triumph. The students left buzzing with excitement, eager to embrace their next session. Who knew that academic ambition, mentoring, and a bit of climbing could spark such joy? Now, the challenge remains: will they remember their mentors’ advice while preparing for those all-important oral exams or will they simply forget it in the queue for their next big social media post?

So here’s to AIR 82 and the students making wonderful mischief along their educational journey! Because who says success can’t be a little fun—and perhaps a bit cheeky too?

The inaugural meeting of the school year for the AIR 82 success team brought together middle and high school students recently at the picturesque Pierre-Bayrou college, located in the charming town of Saint-Antonin-Noble-Val.

The AIR 82 program (Ambition, Information, Success) is designed to empower participating middle school students as they shape their orientation projects, fostering their academic aspirations along the way. This comprehensive support system is implemented continuously and progressively, spanning from the fourth grade through high school and into higher education.

So, how does this innovative program function? The core of this initiative revolves around the pairing of students: a first-year student from Claude-Nougaro de Caussade high school in Monteils assumes the role of mentor to a fourth-grade student from either Jean-Honoré Fragonard college de Nègrepelisse or Pierre-Bayrou college in Saint-Antonin-Noble-Val. This invaluable partnership not only lasts throughout the academic year but also continues into the following year as students advance to their final year and third year, respectively. This significant day served as a reunion for previous pairs (terminals – thirds) while also marking the initial meeting for newly formed pairs (firsts – fourths), with a refreshed team of referents. Audrey Lagouardille and Hélène Mathès stepped in to take over from Hayet Hebbar and Rodrigue Moletta at the high school level.

The day commenced with an engaging cohesion session that included an introduction to climbing, expertly led by Marc Villaroya, who also provided insights into the career of a sports instructor. This climbing activity not only facilitated the establishment of trust but also strengthened the support network among the students. Following this, a theater workshop conducted by Sonia Richasse and Christelle Lafarge effectively broke the ice, enhancing the students’ oral skills. This preparation is invaluable for boosting confidence during oral assessments, including those tied to continuous evaluation, the national patent diploma, the French oral exam, and the grand oral exam.

In the afternoon, Marion Brioudes from the Montauban Chamber of Commerce and Industry mentored a lively Trivial-Pursuit game centered on the theme of orientation. This engaging activity provided students an exciting opportunity to explore various professions across different sectors. The first day proved to be a resounding success for the students, who eagerly anticipate the next session.
