Rep. Chung Cheong-rae of the Democratic Party of Korea shared the remarks of presidential candidate Ahn Cheol-soo of the People’s Party, “If you choose an incompetent candidate because you don’t like your opponent, you’ll want to cut off your finger.”
Rep. Jeong said this on his Facebook on the 28th, sharing a video titled ‘Ahn Cheol-soo’s famous speech that he thought was a supportive speech for Lee Jae-myung’.
The video was filmed at the site of Candidate Ahn’s campaign for the Ulsan Central Market on the 23rd.
At the time, Candidate Ahn said, “The most important thing for us is a better Korea, where we live together. Regime change is a means for him,” he said. “The president must have the power,” he said.
Candidate Ahn said, “Only people who know how the world is changing and in which direction can borrow a proper head. Shouldn’t that be stopped,” he said.
He continued, “The really frustrating thing is that we all know that the candidate is not qualified. However, if you choose an incompetent candidate you don’t like to make your opponent fall, they will say, ‘I want to cut off my finger,’” he said. Will it be like this once more this time?” he said.
Contrary to the separate subtitles posted on the video by the Voice of the People YouTube channel, candidate Ahn did not directly mention Democratic Party candidate Lee Jae-myung or People’s Strength candidate Yoon Seok-yeol.
However, by quoting the phrases used to criticize Yoon in the passport, such as ‘magic’, ‘stupid expert’, and ‘incompetent candidate’, it can be guessed that candidate Ahn is criticizing candidate Yoon.
