It was after five minutes that AIK’s left-back Eskil Edh cleared away a dangerous Malmö FF pass in front of his own goal line. The ball flew over the crossbar, but Edh got stuck in the grass and collided with goalkeeper Ismael Diawara at the same time.
The Norwegian was able to play on after medical treatment, but after 25 minutes Edh sat down on the grass again. AIK then needed to replace him and Axel Björnström came in. By then, Erik Botheim had already given MFF the lead in the match.
– I don’t think it’s a serious injury. Ismael is a big man and I got him over me, twisted his ankle. Unfortunate. I automatically became scared and nervous that something was wrong.
– I tried to play on but noticed that it is better to step than to play at 80 percent. I really hope that I can be back for the next match, says Eskil Edh.
In connection with a new MFF post after half-time, Diawara also collided with Mads Thychosen, who went for the same ball. The AIK defender lay on the grass in agony and was forced to be replaced after an hour by Erik Ring.
A few minutes before the final whistle, another AIK player sat down on the grass. Team captain Anton Salétros stretched on the pitch before talking to head coach Henning Berg. According to Discovery+, Salétros looked a little disappointed when Berg did not want to bring the midfielder back onto the pitch.
AIK already has Omar Faraj, Alexander Milosevic, Martin Ellingsen and Alexander Fesshaie on their injury list.
