Aids 2024 will take place in Munich

In a communiqué published on 14 February, the IAS (International Aids Society, established in 1988) announces that its next international conferences on HIV/AIDS will take place, in rotation, in all regions of the world and that the conferences will continue to offer virtual participation . We learn in the press release that the city of Munich, Germany, will host the 25e Aids 2024 conference from July 22 to 26, 2024. In addition, the IAS announces that it will launch a call for applications to select a city in Africa for the 2025 edition of the conference and a city in Latin America or the Caribbean for 2026. “The global rotation will ensure that people around the world have the opportunity to attend our conferences in person. It will also allow us to shed light on the critical issues related to HIV in each region,” explained Professor Sharon Lewin, President of the IAS. “IAS will be inviting applications from potential host cities in Africa for IAS 2025, the 13th IAS conference on HIV science, and from cities in Latin America and the Caribbean for Aids 2026, the 26th international AIDS conference. In addition, the IAS will continue to provide virtual access to delegates around the world and strive to provide thousands of scholarships to keep its conferences open to all,” she said. “Germany is proud to host Aids 2024, the 25th International AIDS Conference, and to welcome the global HIV community in all its diversity to the beautiful city of Munich,” said German Federal Minister of Health. , Karl Lauterbach. “The alarming and rapidly rising rates of new HIV infections in Eastern Europe are a powerful reminder that the epidemic is far from over in our great region. As UNAIDS points out, if we do not address inequities and structural barriers to accessing services, we will not achieve the global AIDS targets. Our aim is to make Aids 2024 an opportunity to tackle these challenges head-on,” he added.
