The issue of the progress of the implementation of the plan to strengthen and develop the Evros was mentioned by the Deputy Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, Christos Triandopoulos at yesterday’s meeting (14.2.2024) of the Reconstruction and Development Group of the rural prefecture, held in Dadia.
The Deputy Minister of Civil Protection that the course of implementation of the plan for the Evro continues at the same intensive pace, the provisions concerning the Evros Pass and the special support scheme for the tourism sector businesses in the area have already been legislated and were affected by the fire of August ΄23.
He also noted that the decision to subsidize the affected farms has been passed by the Government Committee for State Aid, which as he said “…can reach 3,500 per hectare in specific cases of tree crops, with 50% of this being granted as an advance during the next period in a framework of close cooperation with ELGA…” he said characteristically.
He even emphasized that “it is a grant that is a far cry from what was in force under the previous regime, that of State Financial Aid, as the amount of the aid is many times more than in the past, just as the times are less than many times…”.
In particular, as stated in the announcement related to yesterday’s meeting, it was decided – within the framework of the Government Committee for State Aid and for the above-mentioned natural disasters – that the grant for losses in plant means of production (tree crops, vines) should be set at a maximum per hectare and type of planting, for professional farmers, as follows:
- 2,450 euros per hectare for tree crops in free planting
- 3,500 euros per hectare for tree crops in palmetto
- 2,450 euros per hectare for vines
- 577.5 euros per hectare of aromatic plants
It is clarified that the scheme in question also concerns the cases of non-farmers by profession, where they receive half of the grant and therefore also the advance in relation to the corresponding amounts paid to farmers by profession. In the specific grant that concerns exclusively the coverage of the loss of the plant means of production, the needs of its restoration are taken into account.
According to the newsit, it is finally noted that the progress of the work undertaken by the Democritus University of Thrace, Diazoma and all those involved in the project of the Group for the Reconstruction and Development of Evros was also presented.
The meeting of the Evros Reconstruction and Development Group was also attended by the Regional Mayor of A.M.T., Christodoulos Topsidis, the mayors of Soufli, Panagiotis Kalakikos, Orestiada, Diamantis Papadopoulos and Didymoteihou Romylos Hatzigiannoglou, the rector of D.P.T. Fotis Maris, representatives of the Local Government and residents of the area.
