At the same time, the Rewind company has just unveiled a device called “Pendant”, for “pendant” in French, an accessory intended to be worn around the neck throughout the day. Here’s how the company presents its device: “Rewind Pendant is a wearable that records what you say and hear in the real world, then transcribes it, encrypts it, and stores it entirely locally on your phone. We take a privacy-first approach and provide features that help you ensure no one is recorded without their consent. With Pendant, Rewind is a personalized AI powered by everything you’ve seen, said, or heard.”
Examples of use
The company claims to have received more than 3,000 pre-orders for its device which might be sold for $59, but no release date has been communicated. Rewind gives several examples of use. “Have you forgotten what your spouse asked you to pick up at the grocery store? Are you attending a one-day conference and want to share abstracts with your colleagues? Automatically generating a to-do list every time you verbally commit to doing something for someone else. Do you have an exciting idea while walking or driving and want to remember it for later? You just need to talk to yourself. […] Capture the amazing things your young children say so you can listen to them once more later and remember them.”
While Amazon continues to unveil devices using artificial intelligence, and Meta offers new connected glasses with Ray-Ban, the two aforementioned accessories still appear as totally futuristic objects. We should know more in the coming weeks.
