AI Keyboard: Microsoft SwiftKey replaces Bing with Copilot and now features GPT-4 Turbo from OpenAI

Microsoft SwiftKey, one of the most popular keyboard apps available for Android and iOS, is receiving a new update that brings the brand’s new artificial intelligence technologies. Initially available for Android users, the new version of the tool now features the Copilot icon, which replaces Bing.

Although Copilot is just a rebrand of what was previously known as “Bing Chat”, the new version of the keyboard now features GPT-4 Turbo, the most powerful version of OpenAI’s generative AI model. With the update, the chatbot should provide more accurate responses to user requests, which can be made from the keyboard itself.

Just tap the Copilot icon, and the user can ask the artificial intelligence questions. The assistant is capable of performing web searches, writing messages and generating images from a simple text command. With the update, Microsoft Designer’s image creation function will be located in the “Emojis” section.

SwiftKey adds to the demise of using Bing as an AI tool. Since the first quarter of 2023, Copilot has integrated several Microsoft services — including Edge, Windows, Microsoft 365 and Azure — to the detriment of “Bing Chat”. There are uncertainties regarding the future of the classic search engine, but AI seems to be here to stay, according to the company.

On Thursday (22), we reported on a US$15 billion agreement signed between Intel and Microsoft for the production of chips designed by the creator of Windows. During the AI-focused event, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said the company is “on a very exciting platform shift that will transform business productivity.”
