AI-controlled companions can help you survive

With the surprise success of The ForestI study them Endnight Games knows that he must not miss with the release of his sequel, Sons of the Forest. It is without doubt being aware of this that the development team has decided on several occasions to postpone the game, which is now scheduled for February if things don’t change by then. It looks like the title is on the right track anyway since IGN was able to get his hands on it to give us some first impressions that focus on a very special new gameplay element.

More muscles to survive

Even if you weren’t planning on playing Sons of the Forest with friends or strangers, you won’t be playing it quite alone. The game here introduces the character of Kelvin, an AI-controlled NPC who will follow your orders to the letter to survive in this dangerous forest full of cannibals. Kelvin will be sort of your handyman in the game, since he is deprived of speech following a trauma caused by the crash of your helicopter.

He will be there only for his muscles, helping you for example to collect resources and chop wood. It will not be necessary to mistreat him, however, since he will act as a real character in his own right, capable of sending you upside down. He will also have his own resting needs. And if you decide solo survival is more fun, you can easily get rid of him.

IGN also notes the presence of another mutant companion named Virginiabut apart from his gloomy appearance with his three arms and three legs, we don’t know more regarding him except that we will have to learn to “tame” him.

Sons of the Forest will be released on February 23 only on PC.
