POLITICIAN of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) Basuki Tjahaja Purnama alias Ahok believes that the Advanced Indonesia Coalition (KIM) Plus will not dare to make there only one candidate in the regional head election. The comment was emphasized based on personal assumptions.
“That’s why I can guarantee, even if KIM Plus only makes one candidate, they will never dare, this is what I said, not me challenging anyone,” said Ahok at Kota Kasablanka Mall, South Jakarta, Saturday (3/8).
According to Ahok, KIM Plus will actually lose if it organizes the election of empty boxes in Jakarta. However, he suspects there will be a pattern of independent candidates if the group forces its will.
“He will never dare to do one against an empty box. If he dares, I guarantee Jakarta can make him lose with nothing. That’s why there will probably be a pattern of independent candidates emerging,” said Ahok.
The independent candidate is believed to be arranged to pass the contestation selection. The assumption is considered rational because independent candidates are difficult to accept.
“Right, if you don’t gather independent candidates, you won’t be able to get through, right? Make a list that doesn’t fit, you know you’ll pass. Well that we can see. I think if KIM plus succeeds, he will definitely fight an independent candidate,” said Ahok.
The news of Ridwan Kamil’s candidacy as a candidate for Jakarta governor is considered a KIM Plus strategy. Ahok believes that there is currently regional bargaining.
“So if for example RK (Ridwan Kamil) is withdrawn, the Gerindra candidate can win. I don’t know what the bargaining is like. Maybe in Jakarta they give it to Golkar or give it to whoever,” said Ahok. (P-5)
