Ahn Cheol-soo, chairman of the Presidential Transition Committee, officially declared his candidacy for the Bundang-Gap by-election for the Gyeonggi National Assembly following more than two months since the last presidential election.
Chairman Ahn held a press conference at the National Assembly Communication Center this followingnoon and said, “I will throw myself in the spirit of a successor to lay the foundation for the success of the new government by winning not only in Bundang, but also in Seongnam, Gyeonggi, and the metropolitan area.” .
Chairman Ahn said, “Bundang-gap is my second hometown, and Ahn Lab, who is like an alter ego, is here. The best person there is,” he said.
He added, “Gyeonggi-do is the biggest battleground and key game point in the local elections.”
Chairman Ahn also criticized Lee Jae-myung, the permanent adviser of the Democratic Party of Korea, saying, “Avoiding judgment and going to a safe place with no connection is a tragic act of betrayal to the residents and the ultimate in political irresponsibility.”
