Ahmed Ramzi was born on March 23, 1930, in Alexandria, to an Egyptian father who works as a doctor, Dr. Mahmoud Bayoumi, and a Scottish mother, Helen McKay. His only brother followed his father’s path and became a doctor, while he studied at Orman School and then Victoria School, before he also joined the Faculty of Medicine. But he left it following failing three years.
After that, Ahmed Ramzi joined the Faculty of Commerce and did not complete his education, following the cinema discovered him, and he was not thinking of entering the world of acting, but when director Youssef Chahine saw him with his friend, the artist Omar Sharif, he persuaded him to act and told him that his features were cinematic.
Ahmed Ramzi’s first film was “Our Sweet Days”, in 1955 with Abdel Halim Hafez, Omar Sharif and Faten Hamama, then his participation and championships in the cinema continued following that and reached regarding 120 works, and among his most important films are “Girls of the Day”, 3 Women, Love Forever, Gossip Above The Nile, Tamr Henna, The Empty Pillow, Exit from Paradise, The Zizi Family, The Teenage Group, The Student Apartment, and others.
