Ahmed Mortada Mansour, a member of the Zamalek club’s board of directors, said that some asked them to dismiss Patrice Carteron, the coach of the white team, adding that there are two conditions for renewing the players’ contracts.
Yesterday, Saturday, Zamalek tied with Sagrada Esperanca of Angola, 0-0, in the match that brought them together in the second round of the group stage of the African Champions League, following a positive tie once morest Petro Atletico in the first round match, which was held in Cairo, with a score of 2-2.
During telephone statements to the “Bulldozer Stadium” program broadcast on the “Al-Shams” satellite channel, Ahmed Mortada said: “We, as an administration, learn from our mistakes. Some have called for the dismissal of Carteron, but this is not the right time.”
He added: “The account has time, but at the present time we trust the technical staff and the players. Support is not only a time to win and is not limited to the moral aspect only.”
He continued, “We supported the players financially during the last period, and part of the dues were paid, and they will receive another payment soon.”
He continued: “A draw outside the ground is not a bad result. Al-Ahly drew before us and other big teams. The compensation is there, God willing.”
When asked regarding the debts, he replied: “We succeeded in closing most of the open cases with the International Federation of the Game (FIFA), and we paid part of the debts, whether to players or coaches such as Gross Wachampiong .. regarding 50 million pounds.”
Regarding Kahraba’s file, he said: “The last ruling issued in the player’s case was at the time when we were at the head of the club’s board of directors with the right to obtain compensation of 35 million pounds following it was proven that the player had terminated his contract without reason, but Kahraba appealed once morest the ruling and this is his right, Then we learned that the papers submitted to FIFA had been tampered with, so we supported our lawyer with the required papers and are waiting for the ruling.”
In response to the renewal of players’ contracts during the coming period, Ahmed Mortada said: “(Zamalek has money, he can buy any player or renew any player). We are just waiting for the right time to renew and know the required player from a technical point of view.”
He explained: “There are 8-9 players who need to renew their contracts in the football team, 10 players in the hand team, 8 players in the basketball team. The renewal file is very large, and the renewal value for the players may reach 300 million pounds.”
And he added: “We worked for 7 years before in the Zamalek Council. I think we performed well. We presented more than one player for the national team in all games. Those who formed a team in 2014 and 2018 are able to form a new team.”
And he concluded: “I say to the fans, we feel for you. We have an important match once morest Moroccan Wydad. God willing, we will be able to win and Zamalek will qualify from the groups.”
It is worth noting that Zamalek is participating in the fourth group of the African Champions League, which includes Wydad, Petro Atlético of Angola and Sagrada of Angola.
