The Egyptian Prime Minister, Mostafa Madbouly, issued a decision appointing Ahmed Abdel Rahman Al-Sheikh as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Egyptian Stock Exchange, for a period of one year, starting from August 26.
Yesterday, Thursday, the term of appointing Ramy El Dokani as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Egyptian Stock Exchange ended, without issuing a renewal decision or announcing a new chairman.
The new chairman of the Egyptian Stock Exchange has 25 years of practical experience in the field of money market, since he started his work in the Egyptian Stock Exchange in 1993, and he also held many official positions during his career.
And “Sheikh” holds a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce from Ain Shams University, Accounting Division, in 1992. He also obtained a diploma in investment and finance in 2000 from the same university.
He obtained a diploma in capital markets in 2001 from the Arab Academy for Banking and Financial Sciences, and a Master of Business Administration in 2002 from the same academy.
Ahmed El-Sheikh held the position of supervisor in the Misr Clearing and Central Depository Company between the period 1993-1997, and between 2003-2005 he worked as the General Manager of the Market Operations Department.
He worked as an assistant to the vice president of the General Authority for Financial Supervision from 2005 to 2011, as assistant to the president for market affairs between 2011 to 2013, and head of the membership sector in the Egyptian Stock Exchange between 2013 to 2018.
He also held the position of Assistant Vice-Chairman of the Authority’s Board of Directors, and supervisor of the Central Department for Monitoring Trading Markets during the year 2018, and assumed the position of Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Egyptian Stock Exchange, in December 2018.
He works as a lecturer at the Egyptian Association for Securities and the Egyptian Stock Exchange, and has served as a board member of Misr Information Publishing Company, EGIT Technical Services Company, the Egyptian Stock Exchange Holding Company for the Development of Financial Markets, and the Investor Protection Fund.
