LAVAL, Que. – The Laval Rocket scored two goals in less than a minute in the first period and beat the Utica Comets 4-1 on Saturday followingnoon at Place Bell.
The victory allowed the Rocket (25-26-10) to end a three-game losing streak and avenge the 3-2 loss suffered the day before once morest the same team, also at Place Bell.
Ten different players had at least one point for the Rocket, and Cayden Primeau stopped 27 of 28 pucks faced, including all 12 of the Comets’ shots in the third period.
Reilly Walsh was the only one to thwart the vigilance of the American goalkeeper, in the second period.
This goal then allowed the Comets to reduce the Rocket’s lead to 3-1. However, Mitchell Stephens scored his 15th goal of the season just 94 seconds later.
The Rocket outshot their rivals 41-28, including 16-8 in the first period when they caused their most damage.
Jean-François Houle’s men opened the scoring in the third minute thanks to Brandon Gignac’s 12th goal of the season, scored unassisted.
Tory Dello doubled the lead just 57 seconds later with his third of the season, assisted by Olivier Galipeau and Peter Abbandonato.
Nolan Yaremko added his first of the season with just over four minutes left in the first period.
The Rocket will play their next game next Wednesday, at home, once morest the Bridgeport Islanders.
