The Buenos Aires pilot Agustín Canapino admitted that “everything is impressive” what he is experiencing in the run-up to his debut in the IndyCar single-role category in the United Statesscheduled for the first weekend of next March in the state of Florida.
“Everything in this category (IndyCar) impresses. It is a completely different world from the one I was used to living with motorsports”, highlighted the 33-year-old from the reef and four-time champion of Road Tourism (2010, 2017, 2018, 2019).
Canapino will have his debut in Ricardo Juncos’ team (Juncos Hollinger Racing) on Sunday, March 5, when he turns in the street circuit of Saint Petersburg. In order to adapt to what he proposes each of the tracks in the traditional American division, the Argentine not only designed tests on tracks such as Sebring (California) but also has the collaboration of the esteemed simulators.
“The particularity of this category is that it mixes tracks like no other in the world. Here you have street circuits, ovals and traditional tracks with nuances”, described “el Titán” from Arrecifes in a chat with the program table of champions which is broadcast by El Garage TV.
“It is so difficult to find that that I think that Formula 1 would not dare to run in several of these circuits”, expanded the driver, whose last local title was given in 2021, with the conquest of the Super TC2000 championship.
“I am aware that I will be in the back lot; I don’t expect miracles,” warned Canapino, who also highlighted having “the greatest dedication possible to make things better and better.”
“The first objective will be to try to finish all the races,” said Canapino, who salvaged the experience of his teammate, the British Callum Ilott, to try to adapt to a “completely new environment” for him.
