Technology in the field: Agritechnica 2023 will bring together the main world innovations in the sector
The main innovations for the field will be presented at Agritechnica 2023, the world’s largest agricultural machinery event, to be held from November 12th to 18th in Hanover (Germany). With the theme “Green Productivity”, the fair will discuss how technological solutions contribute to precision agriculture, to meet the growing demand for quality food and feed, while preserving natural resources.
The Brazilian industry will be represented at the event with individual and collective stands in two pavilions to promote products developed in Brazil. Among the exhibitors are the National Union of the Automotive Components Industry (Sindipeças), which will bring a group of members, and the Brazilian Association of Machinery (ABIMAQ) which, in partnership with ApexBrasil, will present the main innovations of the national industry.
Products from the Brazilian industry will also be at the event, with two pavilions for exhibitors; sector earned R$ 299 billion in 2021 in Brazil, according to ABIMAQ
One of the confirmed exhibiting companies is METISA (Metalúrgica Timboense SA), present at Agritechnica since 2003. The agricultural parts industry has been in the market for over 80 years, with a presence in over 50 countries. “Due to our constant participation in the fair, we have grown significantly in Europe, a very competitive and demanding market.
Agritechnica 2023 gives us the opportunity to meet our customers, detect new business opportunities, observe our competitors and learn regarding future trends linked to agriculture”, explains Solange Sdrigotti, responsible for the company’s sales area for Europe.
According to data from ABIMAQ, in 2021, the machinery and equipment sector earned R$ 299 billion and exports represented 20% of this value. Of the 8,600 companies in the sector, 53% sold to other countries. Since 2010, the main export destinations have been the United States, Argentina, the Netherlands, Chile, Paraguay, Mexico, Peru, Colombia and Germany.
Automation in the field
Among the technological innovations that will be presented at Agritechnica 2023 are driver assistance solutions and optimization systems for agricultural machines, precision agriculture technologies, autonomous driving concepts and the improvement of the human-machine interface.
“Technology has advanced a lot in recent years and today we have autonomous machines, which use intelligent sensors and satellite navigation (GPS), for example, for targeted management of agricultural land. But despite this accelerated digital transformation in the field, there is still a lot of research being developed to increase productivity and efficiency in a sustainable way and, certainly, many of these results will be present at Agritechnica”, highlights Timo Zipf, director of the German Agricultural Society (DLG) , organizer of the event.
“Industry leaders, mid-sized companies and startups from all continents will bring to the event the main innovations in the areas of engines, electronics, drive technology, hydraulics, cabs and powerlifts, as well as spare and wear parts. With this portfolio of exhibitors, Agritechnica seeks to elevate the automation of work machines to a new level, focusing mainly on the human-machine interface.” explains Brena Bäumle, director of Bäumle Feira Organization, official representative of DLG for Brazil.
One of the solutions is from the “Driver’s Cabin 4.0” research consortium, which has the support of the machine manufacturer CLAAS, and proposes an automated assistance system for the driver. The project developed by researchers at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) is an adaptable human-machine interface capable of recognizing the driver’s current stress level and automatically providing individual recommendations for action.
Scientists examine the level of stress using eye tracking or heart rate. When noticing that the driver is stressed, the system generates recommendations for action, which are projected onto the windshield, in the operator’s field of vision, using augmented reality. In addition to monitoring stress and indicating actions to minimize risks, other useful information can be integrated into the system, such as weather forecasts or data on soil pollution, for example.
The use of robots in field work, such as those that automatically identify and remove weeds, is another trend that will be highlighted at Agritechnica 2023. Many of the investments made by startups are aimed at developing and marketing autonomous agricultural machines that, with low operational and adjustable tracks, can get the job done in a way that protects the ground and is more energy efficient than conventional technology. These equipment have sensors to detect obstacles in the way and take on monotonous, tiring and sometimes dangerous jobs, freeing professionals for other activities.
About Agritechnica
Agritechnica will feature live events, demo shows and a new series of ‘Expert Stages’ exploring topics such as smart spraying, remote sensing, connectivity, autonomous farm equipment and alternative powertrain systems, as well as solutions to achieve greater efficiency and savings of resources in the field such as tires, ballasts and assistance systems.
With more than 2,000 visitors from South America in the last edition, Agritechnica is an opportunity both for professionals in the machinery and equipment industry, as well as for producers and managers. With the fair’s global reach, exhibitors can reach major producers and buyers around the world, such as Kazakhstan, France, United Kingdom and Germany, for example. “The fair has 23 indoor pavilions, in addition to an outdoor exhibition area.
Spaces for Brazilians at Agritechnica 2023 remain open, both for individual stands and for collective pavilions, and a new round of registrations is scheduled for June, if there are still vacancies”, explains Brena Bäumle.
Agritechnica’s partner events are Systems & Components, for the B2B market for the international supplier industry in the agricultural and off-highway machinery sector — which should concentrate a good part of the technology innovations; and the “Inhouse Farming – Feed & Food Show”, the new DLG platform for the agricultural and food systems of the future, with strong ties with agricultural professionals.
