Agreement in abuse lawsuit with plaintiff Virginia Giuffre

British Prince Andrew, who is facing a civil lawsuit over allegations of abuse, has reached an agreement in principle with US plaintiff Virginia Giuffre on a settlement.

The British Prince Andrew has reached an out-of-court settlement with the plaintiff Virginia Giuffre in the abuse proceedings in New York. This was announced by Giuffre’s lawyer David Boies in a letter to the competent New York federal court on Tuesday. How much Prince Andrew will pay Giuffre has not been made public.

The second eldest son of Queen Elizabeth II wants to make a “significant donation” to an organization founded by Giuffre to help victims of abuse. If the agreement is accepted by the court, civil litigation would be off the table.

Giuffre says he was sexually assaulted by Prince Andrew in 2001 when he was 17. At the time, she was “loaned” to the Royal by the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Prince Andrew has repeatedly denied the allegations. Even now he does not admit any wrongdoing to Giuffre, it is said.

He “regrets” his previous connections to US sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, who died in 2019. “Jeffrey Epstein is known to have sex-trafficked countless young girls over the course of many years,” the document said. Prince Andrew also acknowledges that Giuffre suffered as a “victim of abuse and as a result of unfair public abuse.”

Because of the allegations and his previous contacts with Epstein, the Queen’s son gave up his royal duties in 2019 and largely withdrew from the public. He then lost his military titles and royal patronage in January.
