Tokyo (AFP) – PSG and RB Leipzig have reached an agreement for the transfer of French international defender Nordi Mukiele to Paris, we learned on Sunday from a source close to the negotiations.

The two parties have committed to a dry transfer and not a loan with an option to buy, as initially mentioned. It now remains for the 24-year-old to undergo a medical examination before signing his contract with PSG.

The arrival of the defender, trained at Paris FC then passed through Laval and Montpellier before joining Leipzig in 2018, will allow PSG to have an additional solution to the piston position on the right side alongside Moroccan Achraf Hakimi. Mukiele can also play in a three-man defense, a system favored by new Parisian coach Christophe Galtier.

Mukiele will be the French champions’ third summer recruit following Portuguese midfielder Vitinha (ex-Porto) and young French striker (20) Hugo Ekitike (ex-Reims).

This transfer will also offer Mukiele, author of remarkable performances in the Bundesliga (Germany vice-champion in 2021) and in the European Cups (semi-finals of the Champions League in 2020 and the Europa League in 2022), a good exposure just before the World Cup in Qatar (November 21-December 18) for a possible selection with the France team.

The native of Montreuil, in the Paris region, had his only cape with the Blues once morest Finland (2-0), on September 7, 2021 in Lyon during the qualifications for the World Cup-2022, entering at the end of the meeting.
