AAccused of “endangering others” in her management of the start of the health crisis in France, Agnès Buzyn saw her indictment canceled by the Court of Cassation on January 20. A relief for the former Minister of Health, who estimated on Saturday February 4 on RMC that her “honor” was now “washed”. However, she criticized the “legalization of French political life” which, according to her, “makes the emergence of the truth more difficult”.

“Justice passed, canceled my indictment, which means that I was never indicted. It’s a way for me to clear my honor and resume the course of my life”, welcomed the one who was at the helm of the Ministry of Health at the start of the Covid-19 epidemic, until February. 2020.

“Misinterpreted”

Agnès Buzyn was indicted on September 10, 2021 by the investigative commission of the Court of Justice of the Republic (CJR). On January 20, the Court of Cassation quashed this indictment, ruling that “the offense of endangering others can only be charged once morest a person if a law or regulation imposes a particular obligation of prudence or security”, which was not the case here.

For Agnès Buzyn, a criminal investigation into the government’s management of Covid-19 “makes the emergence of the truth more difficult, because no one really wants to talk anymore” despite “a need for feedback”. “This judicialization of French political life poses a certain risk to our collective ability to learn from a crisis,” said the defeated candidate for mayor of Paris in 2020.
