THE touch of the Holy Light took place mysteriously in the Holy Sepulcher of Jerusalem, where thousands of believers had gathered. The security measures were draconian – also due to the war – while fewer pilgrims were found inside the Church of the Resurrection, compared to previous years.

A little later, Mr Patriarch of Jerusalem Theophilos handed over the Resurrection light to the Greek delegation, with all solemnity. “We wish this light to enlighten the minds of men, to warm their hearts, especially to enlighten the minds of the rulers of this world, who make decisions about the destinies of men.”
THE Deputy Foreign Minister Giorgos Kotsiras who was found in Jerusalem, said among other things: “It is a great blessing, a great honor and I want to emphasize on the occasion of this holy presence today that the Greek state is and will continue to be next to the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem and to you personally.”

SKY express will transport the Holy Light, which will arrive on a Greek government aircraft from Jerusalem to Greece, to seven destinations in the Greek territory. As stated in a company announcement, for another year SKY express, faithful to the values, morals and customs of the country, “will carry the Holy Light of hope and love to every corner of Greece and more specifically to Heraklion, Rhodes, Mykonos, Mytilini, Santorini, Chios and Kythira”, “having put its people, as well as its brand new aircraft, at the disposal of the Greek State this year”.
