Artificial intelligence (AI) is about to take another major step forward. A team of researchers aims to develop artificial general intelligence (AGI), capable of surpassing human intelligence in various fields, by implementing a network world’s largest supercomputer network. This projectled by SingularityNET, will begin in September with the entry into service of a first superordinateur specially designed for the occasion.
AGI stands out from current AI systems, which are limited to specific tasks, by promising intelligence that can improve itself by autonomously learning across disciplines. To achieve this goal, SingularityNET is developing a “multi-tier cognitive computing network” based on cutting-edge components such as AMD Instinct processors and Nvidia L40S GPUs. The supercomputers in this network will integrate advanced technologies such as deep neural networks and large language models. These systems will be able to mimic human cognitive functions while processing massive amounts of data. This infrastructure must support the transition to AI that can reason and dynamically model complex worlds, a major step towards theartificial intelligence “superintelligente”.
This project is not only technological; it also relies on a sophisticated software ecosystem. OpenCog Hyperon, an open source software framework, is designed to manage the distributed computing clusters required for this AGI. This network, which users will access via a token system, allows secure access to data while facilitating the evolution of the AGI.
Predictions from influential researchers like Ben Goertzel suggest that AGI could be achieved by 2027, or 2028 according to other experts. This race towards AGI is also fueled by tech giants like Meta, which are investing heavily in developing infrastructure to train advanced AI models.
SingularityNET, as a member of the Artificial Super Intelligence Alliance, aims not only to achieve this feat but also to make this technology accessible through a decentralized computing network, thus laying the foundation for the artificial intelligence of the future.
