Video released by the US Air Force shows a Chinese fighter jet performing what Pentagon officials described as a “needlessly aggressive” maneuver in front of a US military spy plane.

On Friday, a Chinese J16 fighter jet intercepted a US RC135 spy plane in international airspace over the South China Sea.

The video shows the Chinese fighter turning in front of the American plane from a very close distance, which caused the American plane to turbulence.

The United States stressed that it will continue to work in a safe and professional manner wherever international law allows, and herein lies the dispute.

For the United States, the airspace over most of the South China Sea is considered international airspace over international waters, while China claims that most of the South China Sea is its territorial waters, and therefore it believes that the United States penetrates its territory, a position that the United States does not recognize.
