Commissioners of the National Commission for the Protection of Personal Data (CNPDCP)heard on Thursday, August 1, 2024, the managers of the National Scholarship Agency of Gabon (ANBG), following a complaint from some agents of this agency who believe that their employer broke the law by disseminating their personal data on social networks without authorization.

“Agents at the ANBG, we were unexpectedly suspended on February 29, 2024 by note, broadcast to all staff on the Agency’s main channel, for reasons of further investigation without any relevant reason having been provided. Already disoriented by such a decision which brought a certain discredit on us in the eyes of our colleagues, we were, to our great regret, faced with an even more delicate situation from February 1is March 2024 with the dissemination in the various media of the online, written, audio-visual press and all social networks (Tiktok, Facebook and others), of the news of our suspension with identities exposed”notes the complaint of the collective of ANBG agents harmed by the dissemination of their personal data.

A note that went viral on the web, was about the suspension of certain ANBG agents for alleged facts of “criminal association, embezzlement of purses by bank card in an organized gang for a supposed amount of 5 billion FCFA”.

During this hearing, the communication mechanisms at the ANBG level were reviewed. Safeguards had to be put in place to avoid any leaks of information in the future.

“This is an important commission in the public life of our country; because it concerns the protection of the privacy of citizens. We have learned a lot of things today. It is good that these things are also learned by our agents. Hence the interest for us to organize a seminar for our agents.”indicated with satisfaction, Ruphin Ndjambou, Director General of ANBG.
