It’s been six years since Claudia Schiffer (53) last walked on a catwalk for Versace. The top model made her comeback during Milan Fashion Week which unveiled the spring-summer 2024 collection. Sculptural in a mint green and gray checked glitter nightie, the German model closed the show in which the Americans Gigi also participated Hadid or Kendall Jenner. A nod to the supermodels of the 90s desired by Donatella Versace who also gave pride of place to checkerboard prints and the sixties. Demi Moore was notably in the front row to attend the parade.
“My favorite pieces are those from the metallic collection. These are mini skirts with little sweaters, which might make a complete look“, she told Vogue referring to the fall 1994 collection of Versace. “It’s a strong comeback to the early 90s. What’s strange is that we can wear it once more today, it’s today’s fashion. It’s today’s fashion“, she added.
This is a triumphant return for Claudia Schiffer, who had not paraded for Versace for six years. In September 2017, she paraded alongside her sisters Carla Bruni, Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford and Helena Christensen in a tribute to Gianni Versace, who died on July 15, 1997.
It fits me like a glove
After the show, the supermodel headed to the Versace party wearing a blue dress featuring sparkling straps. About this dress she also told Vogue : “It’s practically molded to my body. It fits me like a glove.” She added: “I always stay healthy. I work out and make sure I get plenty of rest. Other than that, I’m myself.”
Very close to Donatella Versace, she confided with great tenderness: “Donatella is simply a wonderful, warm, sweet, genuine and kind person who truly cares regarding others. It’s like you’re entering a warm family. I always look forward to it. It’s much more than a fashion show and an campaign. It’s much more than that.”
