The planned obsolescence of electronic devices is increasingly being debated among consumers. To remedy this, in an attempt to combat this conduct and extend the useful life of its products, LG announced the “webOS Re:New” update program dedicated to its native webOS platform on its smart TVs.

This program includes any LG 2024 smart TV or an LG 2022 OLED TV (including LG OLED Flex and LG OLED Posé) or a QNED Mini LED 8K 2022 (including LG OLED Flex and LG OLED Posé). They will receive updates for five years (QNED99/95 series). In the future, this update will also be extended to other LG TVs.

This version of webOS guarantees a personalized experience through a home screen that will suggest content and services according to the user’s preferences. The Quick Card system will improve the organization of apps thanks to categories such as music, games and sports, speeding up navigation like on a smartphone.

Updates also ensure that software security is maintained and the operating system is optimized. webOS is present on more than 200 million smart TVs.

It will be possible to discover the new webOS during CES 2024 in Las Vegas, which will be held from January 9th to 12th.
