Stellantis, the parent company of Fiat Chrysler, manufacturer of the largest lemons on the market, los Jeeps, is recalling more than 354,000 Jeeps worldwide because the rear coil springs can fall out while being driven.
The recall covers select 2022 and 2023 Grand Cherokees and 2021 through 2023 Grand Cherokee L SUVs.
The company says in documents released Tuesday by the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that the springs may have been installed incorrectly in production.
They can become detached from the vehicle while it is in motion, increasing the risk of a crash and possibly creating a hazard for other drivers.
Stellantis says in the documents that it is aware of 17 warranty claims, two customer support reports, and two field reports that may be caused by the problem.
But as of May 25, he had no reports of crashes or injuries. Most of the recalled vehicles are in North America, (Mexico, USA, Canada).
Dealers will inspect the springs and replace the sets if necessary. Owners must be notified by letter beginning July 28.
Many Jeep and other manufacturer recalls
This is one of many manufacturer recalls. Our staff reported manufacturing faults on nearly all of their Jeep models, and test cars were blocked from reaching us by the manufacturer.
A Hispanic worker who did not want to give his name and who is retired today was able to comment on how Stellantis and General Motors cars are made, since he lived in Detroit and worked in several factories of the two companies.
This gentleman alerted us regarding manufacturing flaws and the lack of desire that the workers in the plants put into it, so that the vehicles do not come out with faults.
This Hispanic ended up working at the Toyota plant in Kentucky, and said that the difference between that factory and those in Detroit is abysmal.
At the Toyota factory, if a car had only a small fault, this car was withdrawn and there was a group of specialists who had to detect the faults so that they do not happen once more. Those cars were going up for auction as wrecked cars.
That does not happen with General Motors and Fiat Chrysler (Stellantis), where failed cars came out and nobody said anything. He even told us that in the 90s, a Chevrolet came out without the piston rings, the person who had to put them on did not protest them, nobody said anything to him, and yet they delivered it to the dealer as it was.
