AG and BNP Paribas Fortis are the new shareholders of all commercial and operational activities of the Touring Group. The insurer has acquired 75% of the shares, the rest (25%) is held by the bank, the help desk said in a statement on Monday.

Touring – mainly known for its breakdown services and travel assistance – was until recently in the form of an ASBL, which was an exception in the sector. Its competitor VAB thus belongs to KBC.
The transition to electric and connected vehicles is leading to an evolution in the offer of assistance services which requires investment.
“The partnership offers all parties involved new growth opportunities in mobility and travel, areas in which customer support needs are constantly evolving,” said Heidi Delobelle, CEO of AG, in a press release. the insurer.
The transaction concerns the operational activities of Touring, which will continue under the same name. Each year, the organization carries out 680,000 repair interventions, handles 145,000 telephone calls from Belgians in distress abroad, carries out 35,000 technical or medical interventions abroad. In total, more than 2 million Belgians can call on the assistance service.
The non-profit organization Touring Club Royal de Belgique, “spokesperson and independent representative of the road user in the broad sense”, is not affected by the transfer agreement.
