Egyptian lawyer Yasser Kantoush sparked controversy after he published a statement on “Facebook” revealing the details of the decision to ban the screening of the movie “Ramses Paris”, starring Haifa Wehbe, in the upcoming Eid Al-Fitr season.
Kantoush said in his statement: “Preventing the showing of the movie “Ramses Paris”… Praise be to God, this morning our office obtained a court ruling in Case No. 18 of 2023 dated 4/18/2023 from the Economic Court in favor of the international French artist Bibi Nasseri to stop showing the artistic performance. publicly in the movie “Ramses Paris” until his image was removed from all scenes of the movie.
Kantoush added: “Tomorrow, an official copy of the ruling will be sent to the censorship of works to stop the license issued to show the film and all concerned parties to implement the law. Kantoush’s office also affirms all appreciation and respect for the artist Haifa Wehbe and pride in her confidence in our office as her lawyers, as she is not a party to this crisis, and that The conflict is minor between the company producing the film and the French artist Bibi Nasseri.
In response to what Kantoush published, the film’s producer, Raymond Ramses, said during exclusive statements to “An-Nahar”: “My response to all this is that the film will be shown on its date on Eid Al-Fitr, and there is no truth to what is being circulated in this regard.”
