Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro arrives in Turkey for an official visit, and indicates his confidence that the two parties will strengthen the ties of union and cooperation between the Venezuelan and Turkish peoples.
Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro arrived in Turkey on an official visit, where he was received by Turkish officials at Ankara Airport.
Maduro expressed his happiness at the start of his international tour from Turkish territory, noting his confidence that the two parties will strengthen the ties of union and cooperation between the Venezuelan and Turkish peoples.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is scheduled to receive his Venezuelan counterpart and discuss with him aspects of Turkish-Venezuelan relations, as well as steps to strengthen them, according to the Turkish presidency.
Maduro’s visit to Turkey coincided with the presence of Latin American leaders Summit of the Americas in the United Statesfrom which Venezuela was excluded.
Maduro described Washington’s decision not to invite him personally, as well as not to invite the leaders of Cuba and Nicaragua, as “an act of discrimination”, saying that the US government had ensured to thwart the summit.
Maduro arrived in Turkey hours following the arrival of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, who plans to discuss the safe transport of Ukrainian wheat.
