The number of victims of the collapse of a building in the lower capital, Amman, on Wednesday, has risen to 9, as attempts to reach those trapped under the rubble continue.
A statement by the Jordanian Public Security Agency stated that the death toll from the collapsed building in Amman had risen to 9, following two bodies were recovered from under the rubble of the collapsed building in Amman.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Jordanian General Security had announced the exhumation of a person alive from under the rubble of the collapsed building in Amman, while the Public Prosecutor of Amman arrested 3 people once morest the background of the collapse of the building.
The Jordanian street is still living on its nerves following the collapse of a large apartment building in the center of the capital, Amman, in the Al-Weibdeh area, amid official information indicating the presence of more dead and injured.
The Minister of State for Media Affairs, the official spokesman for the Jordanian government, Faisal Shboul, confirmed that there is unconfirmed information that 10 people are still under the rubble of the Weibdeh building that collapsed in Amman.
In a press statement, he said that the Public Prosecution is investigating the case of the collapse of the building.
300 civil defense elements
In turn, the Director of the Jordanian Civil Defense, Brigadier General Hatem Jaber, said that “more than 300 civil defense cadres participated in the search for those trapped under the rubble,” explaining that “the civil defense cadres will not rest until the last body is removed from under the rubble.”
Rescuers are working to remove the rubble manually due to the limited space and the inability of heavy machinery to arrive due to the nature of the ocean, which prolongs the search and rescue process.
A drone was used to monitor the surroundings of the collapsed building, and search and rescue personnel used dogs to search for and rescue the injured.
