After Tohá’s criticism, Teillier admits “mistake” in having revealed dialogue with Boric about Cataldo

The friction between the Government and the Communist Party does not cease and began this week with a new chapter, after the helmsman Guillermo Teillier will reveal a conversation he had with President Gabriel Boric, something that was criticized by the Minister of the Interior, Carolina Tohá (PPD).

This after the failed appointment of Nicolás Cataldo (PC) as Undersecretary of the Interior in the ministerial adjustment carried out last week by the President, which was annulled after controversial tweets were revived who worked as Undersecretary of Education and finally became Undersecretary of Regional Development.

In his Sunday participation in Radio New Worldthe PC helmsman said that after this episode the President summoned him to La Moneda and they met: “He stated that it was his responsibility, that he had seen those tweets, but he thought it was no big deal“, he assured, in addition to speaking to him about his concern about “pressure from the right”, which would not have allowed Cataldo to hold office.

In his speech, Teillier said that Boric asked him “How can we compensate? to which he replied: “I told him that we did not come to ask for compensation no more charges, but rather that it be understood that it is an uncomfortable political situation,” adding that the President told him: “‘I somehow I have to see this situation, because I am responsible for the appointments‘…. I think the President was even with a humble and understandable position”.

This account of Teillier generated criticism in the Government. “It does not seem right to me that conversations with the President are revealed And I really don’t understand how something like this could happen, I definitely don’t understand it, what is the logic behind it?” Minister Tohá lashed out in T13in addition to emphasizing that the head of state “has all the power to change his mind as many times as he deems necessary.”

The communist helmsman reacted and commented that “I would agree with the minister, I think there was an error in this caseif the President considers it so; what I least want is to undermine the figure of the Presidentthat was not my intention, I think I have not done it, and if the Minister of the Interior has said so, I agree with her”.

Deputy Leonard Soto (PS) stated that “this type of revelation that links the Government with alleged compensation for public officials, without a doubt distract and damage the image of the Government that is 100 percent dedicated to solving the economic problems of all Chileans and also of public security”.

“The vocation of this Government, as President Boric himself said, is and must be as the only north to resolve and improve the lives of all Chileans,” he added.

RD CALLS TO HAVE A “FLOWER DIALOGUE WITH THE GOVERNMENT”

In parallel, the Minister of Social Development, Giorgio Jacksonreferred to the situation of the Democratic Revolution after the setbacks it faced in the cabinet readjustment, asserting that “I am not the one who has to make a call of these characteristics, I know that within the party of course there are conversations along those lines” .

“We are an official party, we are a party that has promoted the option of this government and We are going to be firm with the President in the definitions and trying to advocate so that the principles of the program, the principles that we have been defending by the way, become flesh in the execution of our government”he added.

In the store they also addressed the kind of “ultimatum” that the mayor of Viña del Mar, Macarena Ripamonti (RD), formulated to the President in recent days.

the helmsman John Ignatius Latorre said that, inside the party, “in the Political Council that we had over the weekend, we conversed and deliberated on the tone, the way in which the government is located”since “it doesn’t matter when you are an official.”

One can expect such summons from a mayor’s office or an opposition authoritybut when you are a ruling party, one hopes that the channels of communication, of dialogue with the Government, are more fluid, more expeditious and it is not necessary to reach this type of summons or threats,” the senator also pointed out.
