Visitors to the “Days of Return” will hear sounds from past projects, important exhibitions, sound installations, but without physical works in the spaces of the building.

“This aims to pay tribute to the exhibition hall designed by the famous architect Vytautas Čekanauskas in the 1960s – one of the most beautiful buildings of modernist Lithuanian architecture, reborn for a new stage of life with a substantially renewed technical infrastructure of the building and a new interior, which was carefully and extremely responsibly, taking into account both V. All ten “Days of Return” from July 25 to August 4. Visiting the contemporary art center will be free.

The visitors of the CMC will be able to hear the sound piece “Memory of the Walls”, which was combined into a coherent collage from the many sounds that used to sound in these premises by Antanas Dombrovskij, a long-time night watchman of the CMC.

In this way, Kazios Varnelis, Shilpa Gupta, Artūrs Raila, Sebastián Diaz Morales, Linas Rimša, Vladimir Tarasov, Arthur Jafa, Arturo Bumštein, Maxim Tyminkos, Valdas Ozarinskas, Vaiva Grainytė, Lina Lapelytė and Rugilė Barzdziukaitė, Liam Soundtracks and sound projects of works by Gillick, João Penalva, Jurgis Paškevicius, Monolake, Jurgis Mačiūnas, Martin Creed and Gediminas and Nomedas Urbonai.

July 26 6 p.m. visitors will be greeted at the entrance to the ŠMC building and invited inside by Artūros Raila’s 1998 a remake of the performance “Cancelled” “Approved” with a brass band and a dance group.

Later on the same evening, a troupe of dancers assembled by the Italian artist and choreographer Michele Rizzo will perform in the great hall of ŠMC with the minimalist club dance performance “Higher xtn.”, which has already toured several European museums.

“Days of Return” will conclude its live performances on August 3. “Choreographic Devices”, a comprehensive all-day program of events, which will take place in the cinema hall of ŠMC, composed of curators and artists Murat Adash, Ofri Cnaani, Edgar Schmitz and Sara Sassanelli.
