Al-Marsad Newspaper: Malek Al-Mutairi, a consultant bariatric surgeon, revealed exciting results of a recent medical study at the Cleveland Clinic in the United States, which shows the relationship between bariatric surgery and fatty hepatitis.
He pointed to the results of the study, which revealed that bariatric surgery is the only treatment for patients who suffer from fatty hepatitis due to obesity following being treated with sleeve gastrectomy or gastric bypass, explaining that the results of the study revealed that steatohepatitis was cured by 84% following bariatric surgery.
And he showed that the stage of fibrosis decreased in 70% of patients, and disappeared in 56%, and it also reduces the risk of steatohepatitis during long-term follow-up by up to 88%.
