Next January 13 at the Brussels Motor Show, we will know the “Car of the Year 2023”.
58 journalists from 22 European countries
For a manufacturer, having a car in its range voted “Car of the Year 2023” promises boosted sales on the designated model. After the Let’s EV6 in 2022, which car will be on the first place of the podium?
Volkswagen ID. Buzz
With 45 cars departing from concours, there are only 7 left to date. The jury is made up of 58 journalists from 22 European countries. Editor of Auto Trends magazine and member of the jury, and co-organizer of the event, Stéphane Lémeret, gave the final short-list.
4 electric models
If Kia once more places a vehicle in this short-list with the Kia Niro – available in plug-in hybrid and electric – two hybrids are in the game: the Renault Austral and the Peugeot 408 (two French brands). The Volkswagen ID. Buzz, the Nissan Ariya, the Jeep Avenger and the Toyota bZ4X/Subaru Solterra hope to be voted “Car of the Year 2023”, note that these models are all 100% electric.
It is important to underline that no Chinese car is present although they were en masse at the start of the competition. Year-to-date, Europe has sold 9.09 million vehicles, down 8% from 2020 (pre-pandemic).
