After children were killed in an elementary school shooting, US President Joe Biden calls for a stand once morest the gun lobby in the country.

US President Joe Biden called on the United States, on Tuesday, to stand up to the gun lobby, hours following the killing of 18 children and 3 adults by a young man who stormed their elementary school.

“I hoped when I became president that I wouldn’t deal with a new massacre like this,” Biden said in a speech from the White House, and asked when his country would stand up to the arms lobby.

He added: “The list of mass killings is long. We have to act and stop these massacres.” He continued, “I have worked all my life as a senator on legislation to stop these incidents.”

The US President stressed that, “No child can go and buy a gun. This is wrong. We must stand up to this industry,” noting that “these accidents do not happen anywhere in the world, but they happen in the United States because of gun possession.”

And he added: “Those who oppose or delay the adoption of gun control laws will never be forgotten.”

Biden ordered the flags at half-staff at the White House and all public and federal government buildings, until next Saturday evening, in mourning for the victims.

In turn, the Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, urged all her colleagues to “take immediate action to end the phenomenon of armed violence.”
