After the Studio Display, Apple would have a new screen ideal for gaming

According to an analyst, Apple has a 27-inch monitor up its sleeve to introduce next year. We can expect a high price for an attractive technical sheet.

After the Pro Display XDR, Apple launched in 2022 on the market of monitors’grand public» with the Studio Display. This 27-inch 5K screen is not only very well calibrated, but it is also intelligent thanks to its A13 chip (the one that powers the iPhone 11). However, it struggles to demonstrate its usefulness here. During our test of the Apple Studio Displayso we found that this screen had a little trouble justifying its price of 1750 euros.

However, it would seem that a better compromise is coming.

Mini-LED on the next Apple screen

According to Ross Young, whose remarks are relayed by WCCF TechApple would prepare a new 27-inch monitor for the first quarter of 2023. This would correct two of the problems of the Studio Display: first of all its contrast and its brightness by adopting mini-LED technologybut also its fluidity with a refresh rate that can go up to 120 Hz (ProMotion).

According to Ross Young, Apple was originally aiming for a release in June 2022, then in October. The screen was reportedly eventually postponed once once more due to supply constraints. With a 5K definition like the Studio Display, Apple would need nearly 15 million mini LEDs per screen produced.

With such characteristics, it might as well adapt to creative professionals in the professional field – without replacing the Pro Display XDR – as to players who want the best possible image and great responsiveness.

What regarding the price of this screen?

However, its price is likely to be steep. With such features, it should be much more expensive than the Studio Display. However, it is difficult to estimate its price. Some say that a mini LED TV costs around 1,000 euros per inch, which would mean that this screen would cost… 27,000 euros.

Even for Apple, this price seems excessive and difficult to justify, especially keeping consistency with the 32-inch Pro Display XDR, sold for its part from 5500 euros.
