After the protest: The Television Academy will award a Channel 14 reporter

The folding of the Television Academy: Channel 14 reporter in the south, Ariel Idan, will receive the recognition award for the coverage of the war, this following the storm following the announcement that it will award recognition awards to the correspondents of the South and the North of the news systems in the current war, for “coverage risking life”. However, those who were not included in the announcement of receiving the award are Channel 14 reporters.

Politically motivated: Did Netanyahu deliberately lead to a confrontation with Biden?
The senior minister was asked whether Biden no longer supports Israel – and so he replied

“It is important to make it clear that the Channel 14 reporters in the south and north, Ariel Idan, Adir Lakhakim, Nati Langerman, Ati Shiloh and Milan Moalem, have a secret power dome that protects them from missiles and rockets,” attacked Tamir Moorg, the channel’s political reporter.

He further added: “This is the reason why the Academy excluded everyone from awarding the awards for coverage while risking lives – God forbid some extraneous consideration”. The one who decided to criticize the decision is 13 news reporter Almog Booker, who, as mentioned, won the award himself.

“Thanks to the academy for the selection. Each and every one of the regional reporters in the north and south deserve recognition,” he wrote. He also added: “It’s just not clear why they didn’t also give Ariel Idan, Channel 14’s southern reporter who worked around the clock in the war and under fire. He deserves it too.”

On the other hand, the Academy clarifies that Channel 14 is not included in the list of nominations because it systematically ignores the Academy, and that the channel was invited to take part in the ceremony from the moment the channel was founded and to submit its programs to the competition like the other broadcasting and production bodies in Israel, but because it chose not to do so both this year and last year it is not part of the ceremony and competition.

Following the Academy’s response, Almog Booker announced that he was renouncing the award: “After seeing the contradiction between the Academy’s response to television and the actual things, I am renouncing the recognition award until all television reporters in the North and South who covered the war, including Channel 14 reporters, are included.”

The Academy stated: “Every year the Academy appeals to all broadcasters to submit the content they produce and participate in the competition and the Television Academy Awards ceremony. In addition, in recent years the Academy has made efforts and proactively approached Channel 14 in order to encourage it to participate in the competition, but did not receive a response from it. This year we also applied And once more this year, Channel 14 chose not to participate in the competition and the ceremony. Despite the channel’s decision, we are happy to invite the channel’s southern correspondent, Ariel Idan, to receive the recognition award. The Academy wishes to honor the professional activity of all reporters – all of them professionals who acted while risking their lives and out of commitment to the Israeli public and the journalism profession.”
