The problems started around 4pm on Tuesday. Hundreds of thousands of users around the world have reported errors such as being logged out and not being able to log in, or not being able to update the feeds. The problems concerned Meta’s platforms Facebook, Messenger, Instagram and Threads.
According to the site Downdetector, hundreds of thousands of customers had problems with the platforms.
In a post on X, Meta’s communications manager later confirmed Andy Stone that the platforms had problems: “We are aware that people are having problems accessing our services. We are working on this now.”
The problems were also confirmed on Meta’s official status page.
On platform X, Meta is trending as a topic. And one who, unsurprisingly, is not saddened by the problems is X’s owner Elon Musk:
At 5:30 p.m., several users reported that they were able to log into the platforms once more. What caused the problems is unclear at the time of writing.
