Books – Ahmed Gomaa:
The Ministry of Health and Population decided to reopen the National Eye Hospital in Cairo this week, following the crisis that arose over it due to the death of the girl, Marina Salah Sarkis.
On May 10, the Ministry of Health decided to close the hospital as a result of what it described as “violating the licensing conditions, and violating infection control conditions.”
According to the Fatah decision issued by Dr. Mohamed Shawky, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in Cairo, and obtained by Masrawy, a committee from the Free Treatment Department once more reviewed the measures taken by the hospital and decided to restart it for “the removal of violations, the reason for the closure.”
The decision stipulates that it will be implemented from May 18, and the competent authorities must implement it.
According to an official source in the hospital, “the administrative observations that caused the closure of the hospital were avoided, following the formation of a committee of free treatment in the Directorate of Health Affairs in Cairo, which decided to allow employment.”
The source explained, in statements to Masrawy, that “as for the criminal aspect of the incident, it is under investigation in the Public Prosecution to determine whether there is a negligence or not.”
Marina’s death sparked a wide interaction on social networking sites during the past hours, following talking regarding her death as a result of medical complications that she was subjected to as a result of dyeing her eyes, amid calls for an investigation into the matter.
