After the “inappropriate” behavior video, Baghdad summons its ambassador to Lebanon

The Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs asked its ambassador to Lebanon, Haider Al-Barrak, to return to Baghdad, following a video clip was circulated on social networks showing the ambassador in behavior described as “inappropriate.”

The Iraqi Foreign Ministry spokesman, Ahmed Al-Sahaf, said that Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein had directed to bring Ambassador Haider Al-Barrak to Baghdad, to discuss what was reported by the media and social networking sites, regarding preventing the ambassador, a member of an Iraqi delegation that visited Lebanon recently for bilateral talks, from making a statement to the press. .

The spokesman indicated that the ministry will work to “establish the merits of the issue and take the appropriate action.”

The head of the New Generation bloc in the Iraqi parliament, MP Sarwa Abdul Wahed, had demanded, in a parliamentary question she directed to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, to transfer the ambassador to an investigation committee, and to withdraw his hand from the job immediately.

The deputy asked the minister regarding the ministry’s opinion on the “inappropriate” behavior of the ambassador, and what are the procedures for such behavior.

The Iraqi Foreign Ministry had announced that an official delegation had met with the Lebanese side in Beirut regarding the Iraqi-Lebanese agreement, according to statment Journalist.

Al-Sahaf said that the Iraqi delegation ended a visit to Lebanon on Tuesday, headed by the Iraqi ambassador in Beirut, Haider Al-Barrak, following meeting with the Lebanese Prime Minister, Najib Mikati. The visit included meetings between a number of Iraqi and Lebanese officials from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Finance and Central Banks.

The meetings discussed how Iraq can benefit from the services and goods it needs from Lebanon in exchange for the oil it provides, within the framework of an integrative policy to create a joint economic zone between the two countries, according to the statement.conscious“.
