After the Garonne flood, restriction on tap water in three municipalities

With the flood of the Garonne, a malfunction of the drinking water station of
Verdun-sur-Garonne occurred early in the morning, its operators noting the turbidity of the water. Since then, the water is unfit for consumption in the municipalities of Verdun, Beaupuy and Bouillac indicates the prefecture of Tarn-et-Garonne.

It invites the population of these municipalities located between Toulouse and Montauban to no longer drink water from the public network “as long as analyzes do not indicate a water quality that complies with the regulatory quality limits”. It remains usable for the shower and the toilet, but not for the ingestion.

To overcome this restriction, a distribution of bottled water was carried out last night by Veolia, the operator of the station, in Verdun-sur-Garonne. “Water quality checks will be carried out following the return to normal at the level of the treatment station and the network in order to allow a possible lifting of the consumption restriction”, indicates the prefecture.
