After the explosions of communication devices.. Lebanon intends to file a complaint against Israel

Beirut – Lebanon announced on Thursday that it intends to file a complaint against Tel Aviv at the UN Security Council after the “Israeli cyber terrorist aggression that amounts to a war crime.”

The Lebanese Foreign Ministry said in a statement that its Minister, Abdullah Bou Habib, instructed Lebanon’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations to file a complaint with the Security Council “after the Israeli cyber-terrorist aggression that amounts to a war crime against the defenseless Lebanese people, and the thousands of victims it left behind.”

On Wednesday, 25 people were killed and 450 others were injured in a wave of bombings that hit ICOM radios across Lebanon.

These explosions came the day after similar explosions that hit electronic pagers, killing 12 people, including two children, and injuring about 2,800 others, 300 of whom were in critical condition.

Without explaining how, the Lebanese government and Lebanese factions held Israel responsible for the “Bager” and “Icom” bombings, and the party threatened it with “severe punishment.”

Israel maintains official silence, and the office of its Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, disavowed, in a statement, a post by his adviser, Topaz Luke, on the “X” platform, in which he hinted at Tel Aviv’s responsibility for Tuesday’s bombings before deleting it.

Earlier on Thursday, Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati called on the UN Security Council to take a “deterrent” position against Israel to stop its “aggression” against Lebanon during a session scheduled to be held today, Friday.

On Wednesday, Slovenia, which holds the rotating presidency of the UN Security Council, announced that the Council had decided to hold a meeting on Friday, at the request of Algeria, to discuss the pager bombings that occurred in Lebanon on Tuesday, and the ICOM wireless communication device bombings that occurred on Wednesday.

Many countries condemned the bombing of communication devices and expressed their solidarity with Lebanon, while international human rights organizations, including Human Rights Watch, confirmed that such bombings endanger the lives of civilians and violate the laws of war.

Since October 8, 2023, Lebanese and Palestinian factions in Lebanon, most notably the Lebanese factions, have been exchanging daily shelling with the Israeli army across the “Blue Line” separating the two sides, resulting in hundreds of deaths and injuries, most of them on the Lebanese side.

These factions demand an end to the war waged by Israel with American support on the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, which has left more than 136,000 Palestinians dead and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 10,000 missing, amid massive destruction and deadly famine.
