After the exciting video… Al-Bashir ignites the Sudanese scene with a picture in the “gym”

A picture said to be of the ousted Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir, who is in a gym, ignited the scene following it was widely circulated by activists.

This picture comes days following the circulation of a video clip showing Al-Bashir returning to a patient in a hospital in Omdurman, causing widespread controversy and doubts regarding his health condition, which his lawyer claimed was bad and required him to remain in the hospital instead of imprisonment.

The photo circulated today, Friday, showed the isolated president, wearing the Sudanese dress (galabiya, pants and a cap), while he was exercising in one of the halls.

Activists on social media circulated a different picture of Al-Bashir, as some saw that he was enjoying his time and living his life normally despite the criminal cases that pursued him, amid accusations of misleading the justice agencies and staying away from prison walls as it should.

Others suggested that Al-Bashir’s sports operations were part of his treatment program, which he has been undergoing at the Sudanese Army Hospital in Omdurman for weeks.

An account in the name of “Omar Abdullah” commented, “Al-Bashir’s doctor recommends not to return him to Kober Prison due to his poor health, and he is in the gym now at Alia Hospital.”

And an account in the name of “Abdul Rahman” wrote on Twitter: “Al-Bashir is in the gym for physiotherapy in the hospital…Exercise well, woe is waiting for you.”

As for “Ahmed Mbati”, he commented on Twitter, questioning the doctors’ account regarding the health of the isolated, and wrote: “Al-Bashir is in the gym, and he tells you that his health does not allow him to return to prison.”

The controversy was also accompanied by sarcastic comments, such as what was written by an account in the name of Basheer on Twitter: “Al-Bashir is originally sitting (sitting) next to me in the apartment,” indicating that he was not in the hospital in the first place.

The remarkable appearance of al-Bashir was preceded by days of intense rumors that the judicial authorities intended to release the former president with guarantees, given his health conditions.

Despite the denial of the rumor, today’s photo and the previous video created a high momentum in Sudanese circles, as fears of “impunity” were reinforced.

Al-Bashir, who was removed from power on April 11, 2019 in a popular revolution that the army sided with, is being tried on charges of seizing power by a military coup in June 1989, and undermining the constitutional system that headed his late government, Al-Sadiq Al-Mahdi, where the punishment reaches the death penalty according to the provisions of the law.
