After the decision to withdraw some “Kinder Surprise” products… This is what the Ministry of Economy announced

In response to the European notification regarding the recall of some Kinder Surprise products from some European markets,
The Ministry of Economy and Trade confirms that it started more than a week ago to follow up on the matter, as follows:

1- It was confirmed by the agent company in Lebanon for the trademark Kinder that it had stopped importing the item subject of the notice more than a year ago.
2- Teams of the Consumer Protection Directorate inspectors inspected the warehouses of some importing companies that import this brand from international markets in a parallel import manner. Quantities of the goods have been seized until it is ascertained that they are not directly concerned with the notification in terms of the batch number and country of origin.

3- The Ministry’s inspectors toured some points of sale to verify that the aforementioned brand was not offered. Quantities of the same brand were seized and samples were sent to laboratories to ensure their conformity with the relevant specifications.

As the Ministry of Economy and Trade stresses that it is carrying out its duties towards the Lebanese citizen in order to preserve his health, it wishes the concerned departments and ministries to play a supervisory role within the framework of their competence and in accordance with legal texts, including the Consumer Protection Law, which clearly states that the implementation of the provisions of the law is carried out by consumer protection monitors and concerned employees in Several ministries, including the Ministry of Public Health, each within the limits of his competence.
